WORLD WATER SHORTAGE
Imagine you turn on the faucet and brown soup drips into your sink. Many people in Europe cannot even imagine this scenario, but the global water shortage is a real problem – also in Germany. More than two-thirds of our planet is covered with water, and yet we will increasingly have to struggle with a lack of drinking water in the future. This is primarily due to the fact that temperatures on earth are rising due to climate change. This leads to local dry periods, periods of drought and extreme weather events, which lead to a falling groundwater level in many regions. Added to this is the pollution of the little drinking water through contamination from chemical agents from industrial production and agriculture. In addition, more and more rubbish ends up in our lakes, rivers and oceans: According to BUND, between eight and twelve million tons of rubbish end up in the waters every year. By 2050 there could be more plastic in the ocean than fish. The result is an increase in global water shortages and acute water pollution.
status quo
This is the current status of global water resources:
✗ Globally , 2.2 billion people do not have access to safe drinking water.
✗ Almost half of the world's population lives in areas that are projected to experience water stress for at least one month per year. According to the 2018 World Water Report, by 2050 there will be around 5.7 billion.
✗ 4.2 billion people in the world do not have access to safe sanitation.

TOGETHER AGAINST WATER SHORTAGES
Protecting water is our mission. In addition to the responsible use of water in everyday life, this also includes the fair distribution of water resources worldwide and adequate educational work that prevents unhygienic living conditions from leading to diseases and deaths. Our water initiative GOOD WATER PROJECTS is based on a UN resolution that we have adhered to since 2014: "The right to safe and clean drinking water and sanitation is a human right."
our
initiative
Our initiative is funded 100% from the proceeds of our sales.
In cooperation with international NGOs and partners such as Viva con Agua, we are committed to protecting water bodies as part of our initiative, while at the same time bringing water to those who need it most and are already affected by water shortages. We attach particular importance to a holistic approach and a dialogue at eye level that promotes truly long-term solutions.
