Interview Davidthedaviddavid

David Jakobs aka Davidthedaviddavid is known for his extravagant looks, which the hair and make-up artist shares with his Instagram followers every day. What his ideal beauty routine looks like, which celebrity he would like to bake cookies with and what superpower he would like to have - we met the likeable Berliner for an interview.

What does sustainability mean to you?

For me, sustainability does not mean completely doing without everything that is fun, but rather consciously dealing with everything that surrounds you. An awareness of the impact of your own decisions and purchases. Treating the things you own with respect and using resources with respect.

Which Christmas present will you never forget in your life?

I used to sneak a peek under the couch because I knew that's where the presents were hidden. Instead of a Barbie I wanted, I found a remote control car. Such a yellow monster truck. Very traumatizing. That's probably why I still don't have a driver's license.

Honestly, how many beauty products do you own?

That's mean, that doesn't count. That's my job... far too many.

What emotions do you associate with the Advent season?

Since I've worked as a hairdresser all my life, STRESS comes first, because at that time everyone seems to be running to the salon - even those who only do it twice a year. This year will probably be the first in which I can really enjoy the time.

Which celebrity would you like to bake Christmas cookies with?

I hate baking and cooking, but I'd love to have Armie Hammer and Timothee Chalamet bake squares for me. Naked. Does that count?

What does your ideal beauty routine look like?

My ideal beauty routine consists of natural skincare products, starting with a cleanser, a toner, a moisturizer and then continuing with kilos of decorative cosmetics.

Your experience with fixed beauty products such as cleansing bars, shampoos, conditioners and Co.?

Cleansing Bars definitely YASSS and Shampoo Bars ebefnalls YASSS. So far I haven't found a conditioner bar that supplies my dead-dyed hair enough to tame it. Natural products are usually not enough.

How important is sustainability to you when choosing your Christmas gifts?

We eventually stopped and gave gifts for Christmas. Most of my gifts are from flea markets. I ALWAYS go to flea markets and always watch for my friends and buy spontaneously, regardless of public holidays. I have been dealing with sustainability for a long time and would therefore say: very important!

Do you know your carbon footprint?

Honestly not.

What does water as a resource mean to you?

My family is very responsible with resources and that's why I was lucky enough to have been taught and practiced from a young age. For example, if someone is lavish on water or electricity, it really pisses me off and I can't help but lovingly admonish that person.

If you could change one thing in the world, what would it be?

Vivienne Westwood once said that if people stopped thinking black and white and putting their own opinions above the opinions of others, there would be no more problems. And I believe her

Invisibility, definitely. How come? Not only could I secretly watch people masturbating, but I could also do a lot of good with it. How exactly I don't know yet, but that will definitely happen then.

What do you pay attention to when choosing your cosmetic products?

When choosing my cosmetic products, I always have one saying in mind: "Your power goes where your money goes". Do I want to support this brand with my money? There are of course products in my range to which I would answer "no" - but that's really the minority.

What question should we have asked you?

You should have asked me why I think you're so great: Because you're cheeky. Because you think sustainably and "nevertheless" are sexy. Because you're brave and do things differently than the others and you're damaged, I particularly like that. I'm a fan girl! I am very happy to be able to work with you, you horny ones!
